Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Dwelling in the Underworld

Post by Persephone Fri Sep 17, 2010 5:32 pm

Darkness around every corner, silence down every hall, and depressed souls soaring around. This was the home that Persephone was sent to live for 6 months, the Underworld. Strangely enough though, she had grown to become fond of the Underworld. At times like this where she was down there by herself, due to Hades probably deceiving a mischievous plan, she would go down by the cage where her "pets" were. Mortals would probably call them monsters, but just because it was a mini version of the Cerebus didn't consider it a monster. Not everything that could rip a head off was a monster, but in the eyes of a mortal it was.

Down there kneeling next to the dog, Persephone just gazed into the dark walls with the faint screams of dead souls in the background. A sound that had grown to be a soothing melody to her. Each stroke of her hand on the black dog just put her deeper into thought. It was around the time where she was now considered the queen of the Underworld, a title that she didn't mind too much. The thought of the crops dying in the mortal world gave her the shivers, it always did, but it was something that she wasn't going to stress about. For, it would only be a matter of time before she would let them sprout back up. Thundering foot steps were heard, snapping Persephone out of her deep thoughts. Hades had returned, or maybe it was a trespasser. She waited with intense look in her eyes.

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Lord of the under world, or mainly known as Hades. Royal among most, hated among others, and some even afraid to say his name. He laughed at the thought of everyone dieing, and kept his chin up while standing on a rather large boat, the boat was floating over the many dead souls groaning in there everlasting life in the underworld, or lack of life. There was no need for a boatsmen this time for the souls took him in whichever way He pleased. As he approached a large dark gllomy cliff he stopped and looked around a bit. For just weeks ago there ewre new hell hound pups born. His children would each get one. And he would train the rest to storm villages, for the fun of it. As he looked toward the direction he wanted to appear at his body flickered, appearing in the area he desired. The devious hell hounds all beating the living shit out of eachother, to train up on there hunting skills. He grabbed to chains, both of them with shackles on each side. He threw one on a hell hound with three heads. The shackle was around the torso of the body tight so it couldnt escape to easily. This beast, along with the rest of the hell hounds would grow as large as the legendary Cerberous. This one was red though, and had a thinner shape.

Hades than shackled up a second one and began walking in the area where he sense a mortal, but the only mortal in hell was of course Persephone, But he knew he had to check it out. With that in mind he walked towards the area, the hell hounds snarling, both standing up to his waste. He walked towards persephone, "Fancy Seeing You Here" Hades said speaking in Irony because he knew the days that persephone was in the underworld. He looked around awaiting the arrival of his children so he could get rid of the beasts that were being held up by chains, and snarling.

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Post by Rin Sat Sep 18, 2010 1:20 am

Rin anime sweat dropped as she looked into the portal she constructed leading into the underworld, at a spot at random - in fact, when she created it, she didn't have an exact location in mind. Usually she would just straight out pick the castle to avoid the souls, though this time she wanted to face them, just to get over her ironic fear of anything dead that's moving when it shouldn't be.
Also, for the hidden reason of wanting to face her fears, she told her brother Riku to just shadow travel there while she went herself. Of course, she didn't say her true reason for this - she didn't feel like being teased.

Luckily, or unluckily - you pick - at the other side of the portal was on the ground, though in the center of one of the largest clusters of dead souls. Lucky for Rin, they didn't look anything like your zombies out of Resident Evil, but she still didn't like them.
A few attempted to run at the portal when they noticed, though stopped - apparently they noticed Rin, and most likely realized who she was, or who she was related to. Though, she didn't mind - less trouble. She didn't want to piss her dad off by letting some souls out of the underworld by mistake.

Stepping inside, Rin concentrated on maintaining the portal - she didn't feel like losing any arms or being cut in half from being distracted while walking through. When she got inside, she realized how far away she was from where she wanted to go. Holding her left arm out of habit, she tried to look confident - unfortunately, it was kind of failing. Rin, like usual, felt part of her reach out for the dead, and another darker side of her want to laugh at them. Both, she ignored - instead she walked forward, until she thought: screw this.
Holding out her hand, Rin willed her shadow to transform into something that came natural to her mind - an item from an anime character from one of her favorite anime shows. D-grayman. In this case, she chose Lero the Umbrella. Unfortunately that sounds downright stupid and loserish, but apparently Rin didn't care. ( http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=Lero+dgm#/d1l99i1 )
Standing on it after mentally solidifying it, she willed it to move towards where she felt a strong aura, that could probably only belong to her father, Hades, or another god. Of course, Rin doubted another god other than Persephone would be here - the other gods don't exactly like coming down to the Underworld.
Rin purposely tried to not look down at the dead looking up at her, her black hair flowing away from her face as she went forward. Her hand dropped to her pocket in her jeans, turning the volume on her iPod up - something that she prepared before going into the underworld. Still, her sympathetic emotions hate to hear the sounds of the hopeless dead.
Quietly humming along to Nayuta's version of "Saihate" she felt the aura grow stronger, until she noticed that she was very close, if not already there.

Dropping down to the ground Rin landed gracefully, her shadow returning to its former place she glanced up putting her iPod on pause. In front of her were her father, Hades, and her... stepmother. Rin had nothing against Persephone - heck, flowers were okay, especially black flowers - but she still wasn't used to thinking that Persephone would be her stepmother.
Next, Rin's turquoise eyes landed on two hellhounds on a chain, next to her father at either side. She smiled a little when she looked at them, finding them cute.
Though, this was just a small distraction - she bowed to them a little, out of respect. If Rin could have her way, she wouldn't bow to anyone - she had too much pride to bow, though to gods was a much different case. Gods still liked being bowed to...

"Long time no see."

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Riku had just got back from the attack they had planned on the village of Lerna. It wasn't exactly a village, well it was, but it wasn't full of kind, innoccent mortals. Heck no. Instead the village was housed by monsters and stuff. Monsters with ugly appearances, and bad breathe. Would it have helped them to brush their teeth?! Or at least take from extra-strong mints?! It was horrible. Not to mention the fact that Rin had destroyed mostly everything, including the game arcade. Not sure how the monsters had managed to get that thing there, but thats not the point. Sure Riku had destroyed a few things...here and there, but he would have never tore down the game arcade. Oh well, she will pay eventually.

Riku then teleported back to the underworld, using his shadow travel ability. He had just used up almost all his remaining energy, only now having enough to remain concious. He stepped into his so-called room, and tossed his bag on his bed. The room was really small, and his bed was nothing more than a mattress on a block of black rock. But it was better than nothing. Guess its the price you pay for being a child of Hades. Or at least it was the price. Now that they had payed their side of the bargin, their father now had to pay his. Of course, to make sure he didn't double-cross them, Riku had made Hades swear on the river styx. He then felt his father's presence, which meant he was close. Riku tracked his father's location by 'smelling' the dark aura he felt, leading his straight to Hades. He was somewhat shocked to see not only Hades, but Persephone AND Rin as well. "Father. Persephone. Rin." He did a small bow, only going down about halfway. "Looks like we're having a little family reunion, eh?"

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Post by Persephone Sat Sep 18, 2010 9:50 pm

Those footsteps heard were exactly who Persephone had expected it to be, her "loving" husband Hades. The love life of Gods and Goddesses was strange indeed, it wasn't like a mortal relationship. Gods would marry a goddess and still bear children with different people, such as mortals. Persephone's relationship with Hades was a complicated one as well, for she was actually forced to marry him and didn't have true love for him at first. Now, not to say that she doesn't love him now, because she does, but at times he is just a jerk. It was expected from the God of the Underworld though. Hades walked into the room that Persephone was in, with his two Hellpups right next to him. Curiosity came over her, what was the reason for him having those animals with him? That thought cleared her mind when he spoke. "Fancy seeing you here" Hades proclaimed. Obviously it was a bunch of sarcasm, because they both knew that she was down there because of his trickery. Standing up from her kneeling position, Persephone responded with her own sarcasm. "Great to see you as well." When Persephone first came to the underworld, she was scared out of her mind. Even for being a Goddess, the depths of the Underworld striked fear into her. But, not anymore, she had just gotten used to the place and it's inhabitants. It also got to the point where Hades didn't scare her. She actually felt strangely safe while around him. It was just a feeling she had that he wouldn't actually harm her. Persephone then noticed Hades was looking around for something.

A few minutes later, she found out who he was waiting for. It was a girl, and for some reason this girl was faintly familiar. It wasn't the kind of familiar that you get when you see someone you've seen before, but more someone you've heard described before. Persephone was pretty certain that this girl in front of her fit the bill of someone described to her before, she just couldn't figure out who. Were the two dogs out as a gift to this young girl, but why would she need two dogs and why was she even getting a gift. It all started to fall into place as a boy came in shortly after. He, just like the girl, bowed to Hades and Persephone. But the words after the bow struck a memory in her. He had called Hades father, and then stated this as a family reunion. These were Hades children, they were Demigods. It still didn't explain the reasoning for the dogs. Hades just didn't give out presents to people like this, no matter if they were his children or not. He wasn't exactly the most caring father in the world. Persephone turned to Hades to question him. "Hades, what are they doing here?" Persephone was really nice for being the wife of Hades, and she didn't want to see her step children living in the underworld. It could definitely be a dangerous place to live, and could even leave a traumatizing experience on some people.

Post by Lord Hades Mon Sep 20, 2010 1:55 pm

"You dont need to worry what there doing here" Hades said with a smirk as his kids showed up almost simultaneously. As trhe two took there rather short bows, Hades held his hand out to both of his children to kiss on the very top of his hand. it was a mere sign of respect, nothing more. It was that of hades to show himself as king, and not to be reckoned with. So with the hand he first put his hand forward to his daughter, and then to his son. Holding the snarling beasts in the other hand. He looked at per sephone bringing his hand back. "These two little beasts are extremely strong, for there size of course, and age" Hades said playing a snake eyes roll, and looking towards Persephone but projecting his voice more towards his children. He said as his scythe appeared in his left hand, he flickered within seconds, the shackels falling to the ground, he cut through the chains of the locked up beast that persephone was previously greeting. His scythe cut through the chains like butter. With that Hades flickered back grabbiong the chains before they fell. Hades smiled deviously as he stared down persephone, "Back up" He laughed as the chains were removed from the two hell hounds. They were much stronger than the mini cerberous, Which were indeed pets of Persephone. Killing them would not be the matter but more of showing there strength. He flickered behind his children speaking low,. "We shall see what persephone will do to save her pets, now will we" Hades said grinning. As his scythe dissapeared. Knowing that his children would be able to withstand any attack from the beasts he stood behind them watching Persephone, to see just how far her will would go. The mini ersions of cerberous were not as tall as cerberous him self but were still extremely tal, and wide. There were 4 of them to be exact. The four cerberous pups walked up standing, as the hell hound stood snarling waiting for a simple command from there owners. "Well there your dogs, tell them to strike" Hades said standing back awaiting to see when they would initiate.

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Post by Rin Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:31 pm

Rin sensed her brothers arrival more than saw him coming, her turquoise eyes looking in his direction. "No kidding." She smiled a little, her attention turning back to Persephone and her father.
She listened to Persephone's tone when she spoke - gods weren't always the easiest to read, but Rin was pretty good at paying attention to tones and body posture. Judging from Persephone's tone, she meant what she said in a nice way... possibly thinking about if being down in the underworld while Rin and Riku are still children, fifteen and sixteen, but children nonetheless, was a good idea.
Actually, it probably wasn't a good idea to come down here for anyone who didn't have a backbone and still believed in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Or people who are afraid of the dead... etc.

Rin's eyebrow twitched very subtly when Hades held out his hand, most likely for her and her brother to kiss. With Rin, she was still pretty modern when it came to showing respect. She kissed the top of his hand lightly when he held it out in her direction, standing straight afterwards, her turquoise eyes falling yet again at the snarling hellhounds, finding them strangely cute.
Strong? Nice... She thought, hoping that would mean they weren't too cuddly. Rin liked cuddly dogs, but when it came to hellhounds she didn't picture them as cuddly at all.
She glanced at his scythe, almost immediately assuming what he would do next - cut the chains or bonds on one of the hellhounds, or all at the same time.
Apparently, she was right - Rin didn't blink, nor flinch, as the hellhounds bonds were cut. Instead, she was thinking of how she could use the shadows on her clothing as a shield if they attacked, or how she would restrain them with the shadows.
Save her pets? As in... Rin anime sweat dropped, already thinking about what he meant by that. Sighing, her eyes began examining the hellhounds, thinking of the best ways to restrain them and hold them away. No way in hell would Rin hurt them - for the fact that they looked too much like dogs, and that she hated hurting animals in general.

Looking at Persephone, Rin smirked, her turquoise eyes seeming to darken. "Bring it."

Riku stood quietly, listening to the event at hand. His eyes widened as Hades held out his hand for him to kiss. "Wth?! Thats old school. How many immortals still respect that old tradition? Not many. Plus his hands might have trillions of bacteria on them, as he probably hasn't washed his hands in centuries." He walked closer to Hades' hand, and took his sweet time at kissing it. "Make it quick, and it will be over." He thought. Riku closed his eyes, and kissed Hades' hand as fast as he could. Then backed away and wiped his lips with his sleeve. "Bleh." Next thing he knew, their father summoned his scythe. "Nice work! Now he plans to reap my head off for disrepecting him for the three-hundredth time." He calmed himself somewhat once he realized his father had only summoned the deadly blade to cut the chains. The hellpups responded by trying to attack Persephone's four mini-sized cerberus'. "Shadow! Stay!" The hellpup turned and stared at Riku like he was an idiot. The little fellow finally came to understand HE was "Shadow". But he didn't dare to retreat, and didn't bother to even think about it for a second. "Guess I have to do it the hard way." He quickly extended his shadow, and Shadow froze in place. It could still turn its head just a little, but the rest of its body was completely 'frozen'. "Thanks for the ability, father. And you said my abilities were worthless compared to Rins'." Riku chuckled. "Proved you wrong."

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Post by Persephone Mon Sep 20, 2010 9:23 pm

Persephone gave a angry look at Hades as he cut the chains off of the cages of her cerebrus pups. It wasn't oblivious to her what he had planned to do after that, he had wanted them to fight the Hellpups. Now, she had known that these Hellpups were pretty much stronger than the mini Cerebrus's, so her mind wasn't trying to think about how to help the Cerebruses win, but more on how to stop the fight from even happening in the first place. It might not have been that hard, because the kids seemed a little oblivious to the fact that Hades wanted them to get their pets to attack the Cerebruses. Maybe, she could use this to her advantage in a way.

With a few strides, Persephone made her way over to where Hades was, with her black silky dress flowing behind her. Now she was standing directly in front of Hades, her voice not lacking confidence, and her voice was what seemed to be clear of fear. She had stated it before, she did not fear anything about Hades or the underworld. What was there to fear, she had pretty much lived in hell for years, nothing could be much worse than that. "Hades, I beg of you, do not force these children into the act of violence this young in age. They are just kids, children of Hades or not, you cannot put them in a position of violence this early. Let them have the Hell pups, but for protection not violence. The gods resent you enough, you cannot afford to raise children in your ways of violence. For once think about something else other than your personal gain." At this moment and time, Persephone wasn't thinking of any consequences, she was just acting in hope to protect not only her pets, but these precious children too. They may not have known it now, but acts of violence would lead to nothing good for them. The boy had displayed his small act of power, and she could see how he could turn into a power hungry monster. Persephone waited sternly for Hades response, hoping he would agree, but doubting every possibility.

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Post by Lord Hades Tue Sep 21, 2010 1:53 am

No fighting, Hades grew tired at the lack of blood shed. But whatever the plans happened to be he was still going to be mad at this in the future. With that in mind he noticed, none other than the striding Persephone darting straight towards the Lord of the Underworld him self. His eye glaring at her, a face of disgust over came, as she stopped and began to speak. For once think about something else other than your personal gain." Persephone said, as Hades thrusted his hand forward grasping her throat and pushing her against the wall beside them. He said nothing, almost as if the rage was charging up within him, he stared into her soul through her eyes with his relentless gaze. His face of disgust still remaining, as he cooled down a bit. With his left hand he snapped his hands, the mini cerberous pups walked back into there cage, and the hell hounds stopped. The snap of his fingers wasn't just a normal snap that any mortal, or even demi god would make. For the snap boomed a thunderous noise as it stopped the beasts in there tracks. Even though one was already not in motion. The hell hounds stopped snarling. And basically acted like any normal dog would, other than they looked as if they were from the fire of hell itself. He released the grip of persephone, as she almost fell to the floor. His normal face came back, looking at his children and back at persephone.

" I am of course sorry for that" hades said, but what did they expect, for it was a sign of disrespect for the most part. He didnt like the feeling of Persephone approaching him like that, but spreading peace was acustom to her, and Hades dreaded it. Hades stood and pointed toward the hell hounds. And looked at his children, "Take these hounds" Hades aid as he awaited there reactions.

Dwelling in the Underworld Empty Re: Dwelling in the Underworld

Post by Rin Tue Sep 21, 2010 3:46 am

Shadow? Rin repeated silently, thinking about the name. Well, she didn't think about naming her hellhound, but she probably should... though, knowing her it would be named Duc Von Wiggles or something else like that.
Rin snickered. Controlling a dog was hardly better than her abilities. Though, Rin wouldn't allow herself to become arrogant.

"Freezing a dog is so terrorizing."

She spoke in cheerful sarcasm, placing her hands in the pockets of her Escape the Fate hoodie. Though, she doubted that his ability stopped at freezing just dogs.
By now, she knew what her father wanted them to do. Get their dogs to fight - which was, to Rin, downright wrong. Knowing her, she'd get her hellhound to shadow travel the hell out of there instead of getting it hurt.

Rin watched as Persephone spoke to Hades, mildly impressed for how she spoke. Though, this was the wife of the god of the dead - you'd expect her to have at least a backbone. She smirked a little, the shadows of the surrounding room dark enough to conceal her expression - she liked Persephone more and more.
Rin stepped forward as Hades grabbed Persephone's neck, her turquoise eyes darkening in a seemingly abrupt emotion: anger. With Rin growing up in the modern world, she despised any man who would lay a hand like that on his wife, regardless if he may be a god or a simple mortal.
Unfortunately, in this case she couldn't do squat. Rin may be powerful, but standing up was out of the question - she would be nothing against her father if she decided to tell him to back off.
She glared at Hades briefly before regaining her posture, trying to keep any comments that she had to herself - he was already pissed, and probably wouldn't want to deal with any disrespect from his child.
Her glare faded as Rin silently calmed herself, biting her lip slightly at the loud noise of a thunderous boom from when Hades snapped his fingers. To her, it sounded too much like thunder for her liking.

Sorry my ass. Rin resisted saying, though felt slightly bad for it afterwords. Oh well - it was just a thought.
Turning her head in the direction of her hellhound, she finally came up with a name for it: Konan... for the fact that Rin sucks at names, and that was one of her favorite characters from her favorite manga 'Naruto.'

"Konan, come here..." Rin spoke in a surprisingly gentle tone, though with a hint that she wasn't messing around. The hellhound merely looked at her, turning its head before it sat down and yawned.
"Well you aren't lazy at all..." She murmered under her breath, willing the shadow behind Konan to solidify, and then willed it to nudge her in Rin's direction.
Still, Konan refused.
Ok. Maybe now that freezing the dog thingie Nii-san had is useful... She thought, crossing her arms across her chest, giving Konan her best death glare. With Rin's pale complexion, pale eyes, and dark hair combined... you wouldn't want to be glared at by her. When Rin glared, it gave her a look kin to something evil, or someone you wouldn't want to mess with.
Taking this as an opportunity, the shadow that previously nudged Konan changed into something kin to a dark coloured leash shaped strip of darkness, next reaching in Rin's direction. Rin grabbed the end, and tugged: the other end of the shadow had already latched around Konan's collar, and was tugging her in RIn's direction gently.

"Persephone, I've been living down for the last ten years. I think. Sleeping on a rock; while Rin lived a boring, good life with fellow demigods." He released his hold on the hellpup since he could barely afford to lose the very last of his resources. He looked somewhat tired, and could barely manage conciousness. "Father. Your forgetting the rest of the deal. Shall I refreshen your memory?" He grinned, but then collasped on the ground. Shadow walked up to him, and turned its head slightly. It looked almost concerned for its new master, but it really didn't want to be frozen again. "I'm...*huff* *puff*....fine..." He stood slightly on one knee, and stared up at his father.

Post by Persephone Tue Sep 21, 2010 8:09 pm

(Short, but I'm in a rush)

Persephone tried to gasp for breath as Hades godly hands wrapped around her neck. If it wasn't for her also being a Goddess, then he might have killed her with the grip. Now, it didn't come to a shock that he would retaliate by abusing her, but the way his grip was she was scared he had actually wanted to kill her. Luckily for her, he didn't and he released the grip on her throat. With a huge gasp of air, Persephone stumbled backwards trying to regain all air, and the little bit of consciousness that she lost while in the choke hold. Persephone hesitantly accepted his apology with a nod of the head, but it came to her favor as it had appeared that he wasn't going to make them fight. Without saying a word, Persephone regained her posture and focused back on the children.
